The new access to primary care providers data for the year of 2020 are now available (replacing data for 2019). Data were from the 2020 Area Health Resources Files (AHRF) and are used for the 2023 County Health Rankings. The rate of primary care physicians per 100,000 population are reported for US states and counties (data are suppressed for counties with population greater than 2,000 and 0 primary care physicians over the report period).

The new seven-year average birth weight data for 2014-2020 are now available. Data were from the National Center for Health Statistics – Natality files and are used for the 2023 County Health Rankings. Percentage of live births with low birthweight (< 2,500 grams) are reported for US states and counties with 10 or more low birthweight births over the report period.

The new seven-year average infant mortality data for 2014-2020 are now available. Data were from the National Center for Health Statistics – Mortality files and are used for the 2023 County Health Rankings. The seven-year average number of infant deaths per 1,000 live birth are reported for US states and counties with >= 20 teen births over the report period.

The new excessive drinking data for the year of 2020 are now available (replacing data for 2019). Data were from the 2020 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) annual survey and are used for the 2023 County Health Rankings. Percentage of adults self-reporting excessive drinking in the last 30 days are reported for US counties and states over the report period.

The rate of dentists per 100,000 population are reported for US states and counties (data are suppressed for counties with population greater than 4,000 and 0 dentists over the report period).

The new three-year average life expectancy data for the years of 2018-2020 are now available. Data were from the National Center for Health Statistics – Mortality Files (2018-2020) and are used for the 2023 County Health Rankings. The average number of years a person can expect to live are reported for US states and counties with fewer than 5,000 population-years-at-risk over the report period.

The new poor mental health days data for the year of 2020 are now available (replacing data for 2019). Data were from the 2020 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) annual survey and are used for the 2023 County Health Rankings. Average poor mental health days per Month for adults are reported for US counties and states over the report period.

The gender pay gap data for the year of 2017-2021 are now available. Data were from the 2017-2021 American Community Survey and are used for the 2023 County Health Rankings. The ratio of women’s median earnings to men’s median earnings for all full-time, year-round workers are reported for US counties and states over the report period.

The school funding adequacy data for the year of 2020 are now available. Data were from the 2020 School Finance Indicators Database and are used for the 2023 County Health Rankings. The average gap in dollars between actual and required spending per pupil among public school districts are reported for US counties and states over the report period.
