The new seven-year average birth weight data for 2017-2023 are now available. Data were from the National Center for Health Statistics – Natality files and are used for the 2025 County Health Rankings. Percentage of live births with low birthweight (< 2,500 grams) are reported for US states and counties with 10 or more low birthweight births over the report period.

Data were from the National Center for Health Statistics – Mortality files and are used for the 2025 County Health Rankings. The seven-year average number of infant deaths per 1,000 live birth are reported for US states and counties with >= 20 teen births over the report period.

The new three-year average life expectancy data for the years of 2020-2022 are now available. Data were from the National Center for Health Statistics – Mortality Files (2020-2022) and are used for the 2025 County Health Rankings. The average number of years a person can expect to live are reported for US states and counties with fewer than 5,000 population-years-at-risk over the report period.
New maps and data now available for the School Segregation Index indicator from the 2025 County Health Rankings.
The new school segregation index data are now available for the year of 2023-2024. Data were from the 2023-2024 National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and are used for the 2025 County Health Rankings. This indicator reports the extent to which students within different race and ethnicity groups are unevenly distributed across schools when compared with the racial and ethnic composition of the local population. The school segregation index are reported for US counties and states over the report period.

The updated child mortality data for 2019–2022 are now available. This indicator reports the number of deaths among residents ages 0–19 per 100,000 population, based on data from the National Center for Health Statistics and used in the 2025 County Health Rankings. Data are suppressed for counties with fewer than 10 child deaths in the time period.
