The new school segregation index data are now available for the year of 2021-2022. Data were from the 2021-2022 National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and are used for the 2023 County Health Rankings. This indicator reports the extent to which students within different race and ethnicity groups are unevenly distributed across schools when compared with the racial and ethnic composition of the local population. The school segregation index are reported for US counties and states over the report period.
The new three-year average premature death data for the years of 2018-2020 are now available. Data were from the National Center for Health Statistics – Mortality Files (2018-2020) and are used for the 2023 County Health Rankings. The age-adjusted rate of potential life lost before age 75 per every 100,000 total population are reported for US states and counties with >= 20 deaths over the report period.
