This layer displays the percentage of population who live near a major supermarket or grocery store. Locations of retailers are based on a subset of locations from the April, 2019 USDA directory of SNAP-authorized retailers.
American Communities Project
The 15 community types identified in the American Communities Project (ACP) were derived from a standard clustering method of analysis, conducted by political scientist Iris Hui, PhD, where a set of 36 different indicators – everything from population density to military service members – were sorted using an algorithm that identified like places.
The majority of the data used to define the types in the ACP came from the U.S. Census American Community Survey, 2008-2012. Data on religious adherence and faith came from the Religious Congregations and Membership Study, 2010.

This layer displays the average annual number of high-strength (>30 MME) prescription opioid pain pills purchased for sale in counties across the United States. Data are based on CARES of analysis data made available by the Washington Post.

This layer displays information about free and reduced price lunch eligibility among public school students. This point-level data is acquired from the 2016-2017 National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Common Core of Data (CCD) Public School Universe Survey dataset.

Army Corps Enbankments
This layer displays United States Army Core of Engineers surveyed Embankments. The USACE defines an Embankment as the area of a floodplain from which flood water is excluded by the levee system. For more information about USACE data, visit the National Levee Database.
