New indicator added to the CHNA platform!

One new indicator has been added to the CHNA platform from the 2011-2012 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. Indicator reports the proportion of the adult population (age 18+) who self-report that they have been diagnosed with high cholesterol. New Indicators:

Health Outcomes

  • High Cholesterol (Adult)

New maps and data now available for 5 indicators from the National Survey of Children’s Health.

New state-level estimates were acquired from the 2011-2012 National Survey of Children’s Health (replacing estimates from 2007). State and national indicator data is available by race / ethnicity. Data is only available for service areas outside of California. Affected indicators:

Health Behaviors

  • Breastfeeding (Any)
  • Breastfeeding (Exclusive)
  • Physical Inactivity (Youth)

Health Outcomes

  • Obesity (Youth)
  • Overweight (Youth)

New maps and data now available for Violence – School Suspensions (CA) and Violence – School Expulsions (CA) indicators.

New estimates for the 2014-2015 school year were acquired from the California Department of Education (replacing estimates from the 2013-14 school year). Additionally, data breakouts by student race / ethnicity have been added to the report indicators. >

Improvements made to race / ethnicity / gender breakouts for indicators using data from the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS). Update pertains to California service areas only.

CHIS race /ethnicity / gender data queries have been reformatted to eliminate discrepancies between service area and county values. Affected indicators:
