Click the map link to view total population estimates from the 2016-20 American Community Survey (ACS). Data are available for counties, ZIP Codes, and other geographic areas. Search the Map Room for the terms 2020 ACS to view additional demographic estimates (age, race, gender, and ethnicity) from the American Community Survey. Additional map layers will be rolling out over the coming days and weeks, so check back soon for further updates!

Public Schools by Grade Level and Type

This layer displays all public schools for SY 2020-21. Data are from the NCES Common Core of Data (CCD) Public Elementary/Secondary School Universe Survey Data (2020-21). Also available map layers are:

  • Public Schools with Pre-Kindergarten Programs

Students Eligible for Free or Reduced-Price Lunch

This layer displays the total count and percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch of each school for SY 2020-21. Data are from the NCES Common Core of Data (CCD) Public Elementary/Secondary School Universe Survey Data (2020-21).

Pulic Education Revenue

This layer data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Common Core of Data (CCD) School District Finance Survey. The survey provides finance data for all local education agencies (LEAs) that provide free public elementary and secondary education in the United States. County-level data was generated by CARES by aggregating school-district level records with valid reported figures for total students and total expenditures.

Revenues are gained by each public school district through federal, state, and local funding.

Public Education Expenditures

This layer data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Common Core of Data (CCD) School District Finance Survey. The survey provides finance data for all local education agencies (LEAs) that provide free public elementary and secondary education in the United States. County-level data was generated by CARES by aggregating school-district level records with valid reported figures for total students and total expenditures.

Maximum Temperature – Average Days Above 100 Degrees

This updated dataset reports the total number of days in which an extreme heat event was above 100 degrees between 2019-2021 at the county level. Data were obtained from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Environmental Public Health Tracking Network (EPHTN).
