New Maps - Emergency Service Drive Time

This layer displays the average drive time to the nearest emergency services. Drive times were calculated by CARES using the 2020 Landscan 100-meter population grid, road networks from OpenStreetMaps and emergency service locations from CMS Providers of Service and Hospital General Information datasets. Travel times were estimated using road distances, speeds, and network connectivity rather than straight-line distances or real-time traffic conditions. 100-meter grid results were aggregated to Census tracts and counties using population-weighted averages. Areas without sufficient routing data were excluded from the calculations.
