Estimated Pesticide Use by County

This layer shows the estimated agricultural use of pesticide compounds for counties in the contiguous lower 48 states. Total pesticide use was calculated per area and for area in agricultural land. Additional layers for glyphosate, metolachlor, atrazine, acetochlor, 2,4-D were also calculated and available in the map room as separate layers!

Pulic Education Revenue

This layer data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Common Core of Data (CCD) School District Finance Survey. The survey provides finance data for all local education agencies (LEAs) that provide free public elementary and secondary education in the United States. County-level data was generated by CARES by aggregating school-district level records with valid reported figures for total students and total expenditures.

Revenues are gained by each public school district through federal, state, and local funding.

Uninsured Population by County

Layer displays information about the insurance status of the population age 0-64. The data are from the 2020 Small Area Health Insurance Estimates, released by the US Census Bureau in August, 2022.

Maximum Temperature – Average Days Above 95th Percentile

This updated dataset reports the total number of days in which an extreme heat event was above 95th percentile between 2019-2021 at the county level. Data were obtained from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Environmental Public Health Tracking Network (EPHTN).

Private School Locations

This layer displays the location of all private schools with data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), 2019-20. Additional layers for private schools by religious affiliation, with pre-kindergarten programs, and by level of institution are also available.

Cancer Incidence Rates by County, 2015-2019

Layer displays cancer incidence rates (all sites) per 100,000 population by state and county. Additional map layers from this update include incidence rates for breast cancer, colon and rectum cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and more.

EJ Screen Air Toxic Cancer Risk

The air toxics cancer risk indicator is the estimated lifetime inhalation cancer risk from the analyzed
carcinogens in ambient outdoor air, as provided by the 2017 Air Toxics data Update. The value of the
indicator is persons per million lifetime. The data is reported at the Census tract level. Block group level
values are assigned by repeating each parent tract level value.

Gross Domestic Product

This layer displays the 2021 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) produced within each U.S. county and the percent change in GDP from the previous year. GDP is the monetary value of all the goods and service produced within a county and is a measure of economic activity. The growth rate of GDP is the most popular indicator of overall economic health.
