FEMA Designated Disaster Shelters

Layer displays data from the FEMA National Shelter System database. The FEMA NSS database is synchronized every morning with the American Red Cross shelter database. Data about shelters in Illinois are unavailable.

STD Incidence / HIV Prevalence

Layers display information about new incidence of sexually transmitted infections, and the prevalence of HIV / AIDS.

Labor Force Changes

Layer displays information about the changes in numbers of people counted as being a part of the labor force as defined by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Data is shown for labor force changes between 1, 3, 5, and 10 year intervals from both the current month and the annual 2012 numbers. Public Education Expenditures per Student

Layer displays information about public education finances. Data is from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Common Core of Data (CCD) School District Finance Survey for fiscal year 2010. County-level data was generated by CARES by aggregating school-district level records with valid reported figures for total students and total expenditures. Theil Index: Racial Diversity

Layer displays information about racial segregation using the Theil index. This index measures the “evenness” of all races across the county based on the racial composition of the population at the block group level.

Income from Transfer Payments, 2013

Layer displays information about personal income from transfer payments from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) Local Area Personal Income data series. In personal income, transfer receipts are benefits received by persons for which no current services are performed. Additional attributes include transfer benefits per capita, and percent change in benefits between 2009 and 2013.

Lung Cancer Incidence Rates, 2008-12

Layer displays lung cancer incidence rates per 100,000 population by state and county. Additional map layers from this update include incidence rates for breast, cervical, colon / rectum, and prostate cancer.
