This layer displays census-tract level information about fruit and vegetables expenditures (as a percentage of total food-at-home expenditures). This layer has been updated to use the 2014 Consumer Buying Power data from Nielsen SiteReports.

This layer displays information regarding the locations and characteristics of SNAP authorized retailers across the US. Data has been updated to reflect stores accepting SNAP as of May 20, 2014.

Layer displays the location of Food Hubs across the US. Data was obtained from the USDA Local Food Directories on January 7, 2016

Head Start Program Locations

This layer displays locations of Head Start facilities in the United States. The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) identifies head start facilities as either a center, an early childhood center, a seasonal / migrant center, or any combination of these designations.

School Attendance Zones

This layer displays public school catchment boundaries (attendance zones) for select states and school districts across the United States. Data is from September 2013 and was acquired from the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES).

Majority-Minority Schools

This layer displays the location of public schools where the majority (50% or more) of the student body is a minority race or ethnicity (American Indian, Asian, Black, Hispanic/Latino, Pacific Islander, or Multiple Race). This point-level data is acquired from the 2012-2013 National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Common Core of Data (CCD).

Infant Mortality Rate by County

This layer displays information about infant mortality. Total births and infant mortality rates are 5-year averages acquired from the 2012 Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Area Resource File (ARF).

Lung Cancer Incidence Rates, 2008-12

Layer displays lung cancer incidence rates per 100,000 population by state and county. Additional map layers from this update include incidence rates for breast, cervical, colon / rectum, and prostate cancer.

Urban Rural Classification Scheme by County, 2013

This dataset is used to study the associations between urbanization level of residence and health and to monitor the health of urban and rural residents. NCHS has developed a six-level urban-rural classification scheme for U.S. counties and county-equivalent entities.
