Power Plants

This feature class/shapefile represents electric power plants. Power plants are all the land and land rights, structures and improvements, boiler or reactor vessel equipment, engines and engine-driven generators, turbo generator units, accessory electric equipment, and miscellaneous power plant equipment are grouped together for each individual facility.

Childcare Facilities

This feature class/shapefile contains locations of child day care centers for the 50 states of the USA, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico. The dataset only includes center based child day care locations (including those located at schools and religious institutes) and does not include group, home, and family based child day cares. All the data was acquired from respective states departments or their open source websites and only contains data provided by these sources.

Fire Stations

Fire Stations in the United States includes any location where fire fighters are stationed or based out of, or where equipment that such personnel use in carrying out their jobs is stored for ready use. Fire Departments not having a permanent location are included, in which case their location has been depicted at the city/town hall or at the center of their service area if a city/town hall does not exist. This dataset includes those locations primarily engaged in forest or grasslands fire fighting, including fire lookout towers if the towers are in current use for fire protection purposes. This dataset includes both private and governmental entities. Fire fighting training academies are also included.

Endangered or Threatened Species, Total by County, 2019

The Environmental Conservation Online System (ECOS) is a gateway web site that provides access to data systems in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) and other government data sources. This central point of access assists Service personnel in managing data and information, and it provides public access to information from numerous Service databases.

Long-Term Vacancies by Census Tract, 2018

This layer This layer displays the percentage of residential or commercial properties that were vacant for 12 months or more during the reporting quarter. Data are presented at the census-tract level for the 4th quarter of 2018 (October – December). Map layers for additional time periods are also available in the map room.

Army Corps Leveed Areas

This layer displays United States Army Core of Engineers surveyed Leveed Areas. The USACE defines a Levee Areas as the area of a floodplain from which flood water is excluded by the levee system. For more information about USACE data, visit the National Levee Database.

Electric Substations

This feature class/shapefile represents electric power substations primarily associated with electric power transmission. In this layer, substations are considered facilities and equipment that switch, transform, or regulate electric power at voltages equal to, or greater than, 69 kilovolts. Substations with a maximum operating voltage less than 69 kilovolts may be included, depending on the availability of authoritative sources, but coverage of these features should not be considered complete. The Substations feature class/shapefile includes taps, a location where power on a transmission line is tapped by another transmission line.

Coal Mines

This layer shows the location and production of coal mines within the United States

National Land Cover Dataset

The National Land Cover Database (NLCD) serves as the definitive Landsat-based, 30-meter resolution, land cover database for the Nation. NLCD provides spatial reference and descriptive data for characteristics of the land surface such as thematic class (for example, urban, agriculture, and forest), percent impervious surface, and percent tree canopy cover. NLCD supports a wide variety of Federal, State, local, and nongovernmental applications that seek to assess ecosystem status and health, understand the spatial patterns of biodiversity, predict effects of climate change, and develop land management policy. NLCD products are created by the Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics (MRLC) Consortium, a partnership of Federal agencies led by the U.S. Geological Survey.

Locations of Addiction/Substance Abuse Providers

This layer displays the locations of all addiction or substance abuse providers with a CMS National Provider Identifier (NPI). Addiction or substance abuse providers include MDs, DOs, and other credentialed professionals specializing substance abuse treatment, rehabilitation, addiction medicine, or providing methadone. Data are from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) August 2019 National Provider Identifier (NPI) downloadable file.
