Reported as rates per 100,000 population, the data provide an updated view of how these overlapping causes of death vary across communities and highlight differences in mental health and substance use outcomes across report areas.

This layer displays opioid overdose mortality rates from the CDC’s National Vital Statistics System – Mortality database. Data are 5-year aggregates for 2019-23 and grouped by ICD-10 codes.
Youth Alcohol/Substance Abuse Hospitalizations by County, 2013-2015
Layer displays information about youth hospitalizations for mental and behavioral health conditions. Data are obtained from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) Inpatient Hospitalization MICA data platform.

Layer displays the percentage of claims for prescription drugs that were for opioid drugs in 2013. Data is available by county, ZIP Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA) and by physician (address).

This layer displays the locations of SAMHSA-certified Opioid Treatment Programs. Locations are obtained from the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Behavioral Health Treatment Services Locator and are current as of February 8th, 2017.
Opiate Prescription Rates
The data in the maps show the geographic distribution in the United States, at both state and county levels, of retail opioid prescriptions dispensed per 100 persons from 2006–2016. Data are displayed using state and county level boundaries. The state maps portray these rates for each of the 50 states plus the District of Columbia. The county maps portray these rates for almost all U.S. counties for a given year from 2006-2016.

Data are from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) March 2018 National Provider Identifier (NPI) downloadable file.
