Food insecurity refers to USDA’s measure of lack of access, at times, to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members and limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate foods. Data is from Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap program, which estimates food insecurity using 2009-13 data.
Households Receiving SNAP Benefits, Disparity Index Score

The Index of Disparity (ID) is used to show the magnitude of variation in indicator percentages across population groups. In this case, the index measures the difference in the percentage of the households receiving SNAP benefits across four racial and ethnic groups.

Data are estimates generated by Feeding America, using inputs from multiple data sources, including the Current Population Survey (CPS), the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), and the American Community Survey (ACS).
