The HPSA component layer is different from other HPSA layers in that each HPSA is broken down from irregular geographic areas, like service areas, to standard census geographic areas – census tracts, county subdivisions, and counties. HPSA facilities are designated by HRSA as having shortages of primary medical care, dental or mental health providers and consist of comprehensive health centers, federally qualified health centers or other public facilities. Data are current as of April 28, 2025.
