County and ZIP Code Tabulation Area Business Patterns, 2018

This series includes the number of establishments, employment during the week of March 12, first quarter payroll, and annual payroll. This data is useful for studying the economic activity of small areas; analyzing economic changes over time; and as a benchmark for other statistical series, surveys, and databases between economic censuses. Businesses use the data for analyzing market potential, measuring the effectiveness of sales and advertising programs, setting sales quotas, and developing budgets. Government agencies use the data for administration and planning.

This layer displays the location of Missouri Chambers of Commerce and Industry.The Chamber’s mission is creating an environment in which businesses can prosper. The main function of a Chamber of Commerce is to promote interest in local business possibilities.It provides educational opportunities and assists businesses with the latest marketing and promotional techniques. Data was provided by the Missouri Chamber Federation in September, 2020 and addresses were geocoded using ArcGIS Online.

Net Change in Number of Establishments

This layer displays the rate of change for total business establishments between 2018 and 2019 in counties across the United States. Establishment counts are acquired from the 2019 Business Dynamics Survey (BDS), released by the US Census Bureau. Rates are calculated per 100 ‘initial year’ business establishments.
